Rotate around left

Rotate around right

You can also change the view point by clicking and holding down the left-hand mouse button on an empty point in space and and dragging the mouse.

Zoom in or out. The solar system simulator is set up to display only the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) but you can zoom out all the way to the orbit of Neptune. You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

The time display at the bottom of the screen shows the date and time that the current display represents. The following controls can be used to control the simulator time.

Rewind - press multiple times to increase speed.

Forward time - press multiple times to increase speed>

Stop the clock at current time.

Your spaceship is the Solar System Cruiser.

Solar System Explorer

If you look at the Earth-Moon simulator, the spaceship will be in Geostationary orbit. With the Solar System simulation, your spaceship will be lost in space near the orbit of the earth but directly opposite. Can you use your engines to get back to planet Earth?

You can alter its trajectory in space by burning the engines.

Fire engines forward

Fire engines to slow down spacecraft.

Set the engine burn rate in km/second.

You will need a total burn of around 2.5 - 3.0 km per second to get to the orbit of Mars (use multiple burns if necessary). To visit Venus or Mercury you will have to reduce your speed, so use a retro burn or adjust the spaceship yaw.

Set the spaceship yaw angle.

Tilt the spaceship up or down.
